Reports from other news sources have suggested Rangers are preparing to launch a move for Gavin Gunning, despite the club’s latest chairman saying the club is “living beyond its means” and “costs need to be cut” in order for the League 1 club to survive yet another liquidation.
It would seem a player of Gunning’s quality and improving ability would find it difficult to drop down two divisions to an unstable club characterised by constant in fighting and bickering. Gunning has been in talks with chairman Stephen Thompson regarding an extension to his current contract. Gunning has been handed the captain’s armband recently with Sean Dillon being kept out the team by Gunning and young Souttar’s blossoming partnership. There is still a gap between what Gunning wants and what Thompson has offered, but reports have suggested a compromise will be met.
