Ryan Gauld has been named one of the world’s most exciting young players for 2014. The Laurencekirk teenager is in great company, with the likes of Neymar and David Alaba also making the prestigious list, complied by IBWM.
Gauld, recently committing his future to Dundee United until 2017, has been tracked by Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United over the last few weeks, so his addition to this list comes as no suprise.
With only 5 UK based players on the list, it could be argued Gauld is one of the hottest prospects in UK football. Jack Wilshere of Arsenal, Luke Shaw of Southampton, Ravel Morrison of West Ham United and Ross Barkley of Everton also made the list.
Jeff Livinston, editor of IBWM, said: “The fact that names as prestigious as Real Madrid are monitoring Gauld is no accident.
“This kid is one of the most exciting players to come out of Scotland in years and Dundee United should be very proud of the way they have shaped a feldging superstar.
“While dozens of young players flatter to deceive with little more than a few tricks, Gauld is a player with a tangible end product.
“He looks the real deal.”
